Organizing our thoughts on current events

Sorry that PGG hasn't been updated in a few weeks. The recent hurricane in New Orleans has left all of us feeling a little disorganized emotionally. In trying to get a handle on our feelings of helplessness I have witnessed some remarkable acts of benevolence from what I assumed were unlikely sources. I was holding a bake sale in my community and during the sale a 14 year old girl asked me if we were still taking donations of baked goods. An hour later she arrived with chocolate chip banana bread & ginger snap cookies straight out of her oven. She also brought two jars of the best home-made lemonade I have ever had. Her mother stopped by later to tell me how her daughter had left my bake sale and gone straight to the store on her bicycle in order to pick up supplies to make these things. Those are the moments that give me hope for the next generation. There are some really great kids living beside us, below us, or with us and we need to recognize and honor them for their depth and caring. These kids will someday run our world.
